さて最後に，住んでいる家の建て直しを始めるまえには，それを取り壊し，資材を用意し，建築技師をたのむか，あるいは自分で建築術を実地に学ぶかして，そのうえで周到に図面を引いたとしても，それだけでは十分でない。工事の期間中，居心地よく住める家をほかに都合しておかなければならない。それと同じように，理性がわたしに判断の非決定を命じている間も，行為においては非決定のままでとどまることのないよう，そしてその時からもやはりできるかぎり幸福に生きられるように，当座に備えて，一つの道徳を定めた。それは三つ四つの格率から成るだけだが，ぜひ伝えておきたい。
AND, finally, as it is not enough, before
commencing to rebuild the house in which
we live, that it be pulled down, and materials
and builders provided, or that we engage
in the work ourselves, according to a plan
which we have beforehand carefully drawn
out, but as it is likewise necessary that
we be furnished with some other house in
which we may live commodiously during the
operations, so that I might not remain irresolute
in my actions, while my Reason compelled
me to suspend my judgment, and that I might

a provisory code of Morals, composed of three
