Brotherly love is love between equals:

兄弟愛は同輩の間の愛である。

but, indeed, even as equals we are not always "equal";

しかし，実際には，人はいつも同等ではあっても《等しい》ものではない。

inasmuch as we are human, we are all in need of help.

われわれは人間であり，すべて助けを必要とするものである。

Today I, tomorrow you.

今日は私が，明日はあなたが助けを必要とする。

But this need of help does not mean that the one is helpless, the other powerful.

しかし，このことは，ひとりは無力であり，相手は力があるということを意味するのではない。

Helplessness is a transitory condition;

無力な状態は長続きするものではなく

the ability to stand and walk on one's own feet is the permanent and common one.

自分自身の足で立ち，歩く能力が永久であり普通の状態なのである。
